Harlingen Encore RV PK and Cypress

I baby set at my daughter's at Cypress for a couple of days.

Saying good-bye.

While we were in South Texas my sister came in from Dallas and I met my two sisters at San Juan. This is a Catholic Church at San Juan that we always try to go to while in the area.

My sister from Dallas and myself at the church.

My sister from Dallas and my sister from Edinburg.

This is a fountain at the church where we can get water that has been blessed. Lots of people go there to get jugs of water which is used for blessing homes, cars and different things.

Around the church are the stations of the cross.

In Harlingen we also went to the Iwo Jima Memorial. This soldier was from the Weslaco area and he was one of the five Marines and a Navy hospital corpsman that raised the U. S. Flag on February 23, 1945, when the slopes of Mount Suribachi were cleared of enemy resistance.
Almost 30,000 Japanese and 6,000 Marines lost their lives in this battle. I had a picture of the Memorial of the Marines but somehow I deleted it. I'll post it on my next posting.

Also, across from the Iwo Jima Memorial is the Marine Military Academy.

Arrow pointing to where the Iwo Jima Monument is, just down the road.

Sunset at the Park in Harlingen.

This is the park at Harlingen where we stayed for part of the winter in January and February.
