Heading to Whitehorse Yukon

This is part of the Emerald Lake, also called Rainbow Lake. The rainbow-like colors of the lake result from blue-green light waves reflecting off the white sediment of the lake bottom.

Heading down the road.

This is the smallest desert in the world and an International Biophysical Programme site for ecological studies. The desert in composed of sandy lake-bottom material left behind by a large glacial lake. Strong winds off Lake Bennett make it difficult for vegetation to take hold here.

Some more beautiful scenery.

On our way again out of Skagway, heading to Whitehorse, Yukon Territory.

And sure enough they were and here we are, ready to go in and relax.

Those look like the ships that were at our port at Skagway so we must be close to home.

A long waterfall falling from a real tall mountain. It was beautiful.

There are two whales here. There's a little bit of their bodies or tails showing.

A lone lighthouse in the middle of nowhere down the waterway.

A different view of the Glacier.

Another view of the Glacier.

Ice bergs from the Glacier.

The bus took us to Mendenhall Glacier. It is about 13 miles from Juneau. This is a spectacular sight.
And another side of the mansion.

Another shot of Governor Palin's headquarters.

This is the front of the Governor's Mansion at Juneau. When you're going down the road it is very hard to take pictures. By the time you click the button, you've got trees, dirt, sky or something you can't even make out. I have missed a lot of good shots because of that.
We made it back early, so here we wait for the bus. We could have shopped a little bit more, but oh well.

This is one of the big ships that was at Juneau.

After we shopped til we dropped, we came back and found Tommy and Ron in one piece. They were happy to see us. They were afraid we'd loose track of time and we wouldn't be back to catch our bus that would take us back to the boat.
