Hyder Alaska (pop 83) and back to Canada

" On the Road Again" just can't wait to get on the road again, knowing I'll have to get more pictures for my friends again, I just can't wait to get on the road again.

At Stewart again. We stopped to gas up just out of Hyder. We always have to be sure that we have plenty of diesel.

Here is customs coming back out of Alaska.

After the local told us where to go to boondock and we started down the road that wasn't in the very best shape, Tommy decided that he didn't want to go down that road any further. There was an RV park to the left and he decided that was as far as he wanted to go on that road. We had a big space with hook ups everywhere since nobody was parked on that side of the park. We used two of the hook ups. One where we were parked and another to wash our coach and our car since at that time we couldn't tell what we were pulling.

This is the Hyder post office. I didn't go in it. It's just a single wide mobile home with a roof over it and a mail box and bear on the outside.

And still another.

And another.

Another store.

A store at Hyder.

We thought that this place should be full of bears doing there salmon fishing since that is what its noted for. They have a real nice walkway along the stream where you can view the bear. But where are the bears? Well, when we got there it was still too early for the salmon to run. We knew that, but we were still hoping to see some kind of sight of something. All we saw was more water, more rocks, more mountains and more snow.
We stopped and talked to one of the locals to find out where we might find a place to camp. He told us that we could go up the road and that there would be a good place to boondock.

This is Mile 0. I'm not sure, haha, but it seems like there's 0 miles in Hyder.

Finally at Hyder. This is main street, I guess. There's a few buildings there. Some of them are pretty small and some look like they're pretty old and abandoned.

This is in Stewart on the Cassiar Hwy. This is the Portland Canal which is a narrow saltwater fjord about 90 miles long. The fjord forms a natural boundary between Alaska and Canada. Stewart has a deep harbour and boasts of being Canada's most northerly ice-free port.

Wow, we're at Stewart BC so I know that we're real close to Alaska.

There's always lots of waterfall, rivers, lakes, streams, ice, snow, rocks and critters all up and down the road ways.

Here he decided that I couldn't hurt him so he decided to bashfully pose for the photo.

And here he is. He thought he was hiding but he was still on the look out.

Bear crossing the road in front of Beth's RV.

Going to Alaska, going north, Alaska bound.
