Heading To Denali

When we went to Denali, the mechanics for their buses were on strike. I took a not too good picture from the bus as we went by. As you can see, it was sprinkling.

This is the entrance to the park. We went in to check it out and to make reservations to take a bus trip in the park. You can only take your vehicle a few miles into the park. RVers can go as far as 29 miles, I believe, but you couldn't get in or out after you got there, until the end of your reservation period. We didn't have that problem. Our coach was too long to get into their RV parks in the Park.

More scenery.

The Denali National Park covers a huge area. It was established as Mount McKinley National Park in 1917. In 1980 it was renamed to Denali.

Sign on the side of the road letting us know that we're in the National Park grounds.

Some scenery closer to Denali.

Flowers around our coach on a pull off.

Flowers on the road with the mountains in the background.

More scenery.

Scenery.

Had to wait for a little while.

We hadn't seen construction in a few days, but here it is. We couldn't go from plan A to plan B without construction.

Another view of the igloo.

Also, along the road, we saw this igloo. That's the first igloo we've seen. From pictures that we've seen, I thought we'd be seeing lots of igloos and eskimos. I guess those were ancient times. Maybe there's still some of that on up past the Arctic Circle.

I think this is called a mew gull.
There were a couple of swans swimming in this lake along side the road.

Flowers along the road.

Another view of the gulch.

This is one view of Hurricane Gulch.

The sun, I guess at about 3:00 am. It looks like the moon. Even though it looks dark around it, it was daylight outside our coach.
