Homer (pop 3946)

This is a picture of Mt. Redoubt.

Here is the description of those two mountains.

Somewhere on those mountains are two volcanoes.

Scenery on our way back to Soldotna.
There are many houses built on the hills or mountains.

There are seaplanes all over in Alaska. Many people in Alaska have them in their back yard or front yard. One out of every 60 people have a pilot license in Alaska.i

This lighthouse is another Spit landmark.

This must of been this person's first time backing up with a boat or he was drunk. We watched him try about 4 times backing up and could never get straight.

More boats.

Many boats of all kinds.

Camping is everywhere. There were some campgrounds which cost $78.00 to over $100.00 per day to park there. Very popular because of all the fishing. We don't fish so we didn't have to worry about paying those prices. Even if we did fish we probably still wouldn't pay those prices.

This is the last building on the Spit.

Lots of little stores and restaurants and lots of people.

The Homer Spit is very popular. Thats where the land ends and the sea begins.

Some of the shops at Homer. It is a busy town. Lots of fishing there at all times.

Another part of the Memorial.

We took a picture of this landmark. It is the Seafarer's Memorial which is dedicated to those who have lost their lives at sea.

This scenery right here was just totally awesome.

Scenery on the way to Homer.

We got to Soldotna and I didn't take any pictures. We were going to stay there a couple of days and then go to Homer but we decided to go to Homer on a day trip instead of taking our coach.
Homer is located on the southwestern Kenai Peninsula.
More men fishing.

On the way we saw a lot of men fishing on the river. There were many all along but this is all I could get. All the places that we could have stopped were filled with traffic and then along the way also there were always trees or something to obstruct my picture taking. I had also started sprinkling.

And still more.

Some more of the beautiful mountains.

We're on our way to Soldotna. Beautiful scenery on the road.
