Fairbanks Alaska

This is home to the muskoxen, caribou and reindeer. To me, it was a pretty scenery .

Another view of the muskoxen.

This little gal came in to get her some grub.

Some more of the muskoxen we saw.

We went to a Large Animal Research Station (LARS) where we saw caribou and Muskoxen.

After we got back from our Discovery trip, you can see that there were lots of people on those Discovery trips. There were a bunch of tour buses bringing people in from different places.

This was another sled that was used later.

This is one of the dog sleds that were used .

This is another cabin that was in the village. There were about 12 or 13 different little cabins in a nice setting. They still had a lot of the old stoves, beds and different things from the era. The Athabascan Indians must of been short people. Notice the door. All the cabins had short doors.

While we were on our Discovery trip we stopped at Chena Village. This village resembles the original Chena Athabascan Indian Village of the early 1900's and is located near the site. There were all kinds of little cabins, some of which were from the original 1900's. This is the post office where the husband of Susan Butcher was autographing a book called "Granite" which tells the story of Susan and her lead sled dog, Granite. As a team Susan and Granite won four Iditarod championships. This book was written by Susan but was completed by her husband, David Monson, after Susan's hard fought loss to leukemia in 2006.
